Percie’s Story

When Percie walked back through the doors of Hope House Mission in March 2024, he carried more than a backpack – he carried resolve, ready to fight for his life this time.

Two years earlier, he came to the shelter and started attending groups; however, he was ambivalent to change at that time. He ended up leaving the shelter with no place to go.

But now, hope had replaced hesitation.

His comeback wasn’t easy. Addiction had chipped away at his confidence, but Hope House met him with open arms.

Case managers at the shelter helped him secure his birth certificate, a critical step to unlocking SSDI income. He dove into recovery groups, served meals in the kitchen, and slowly rebuilt trust in himself.

He realized that he needed to build a support network. Weekly 12-step meetings and mental health counseling sessions at Hope House gave him tools to confront his past.

When a sober living arrangement in a triggering neighborhood tested his progress, Hope House welcomed him back without judgment.

Soon, he moved into our Permanent Supportive Housing apartments – a stable foundation where healing could flourish.

Today, Percie thrives. He owns a car, pays rent on time, and volunteers at the Dream Center, guiding others toward Hope House’s light.

Sundays find him at his home church with a faith rekindled through empowerment classes.

Percie’s story isn’t just about revival after survival.

To donors and volunteers, your generosity isn’t just a gift – it’s a lifeline. You gave Percie a second family, a second chance, and a future.

At Hope House, every setback becomes a steppingstone. Thank you for making stories like Percie’s possible.
